So you’ve spent days on the internet getting a list of 100 photographers in your area. You’ve spent hours on the phone to each of them and talked about what you want. You’ve found your perfect match, he’s available, his photos on his site looks good, he designs a mean album, and he’s within your budget.
Your work is not over! Here are 6 Tips that will help you get better photos with your photographer.
- Create a ‘Shot List’ – think ahead about the shots that you’d like you to capture on the day and compile a list so that you can check them off. Discuss with the photographer to see what is possible and not. This is particularly helpful in the family shots.
- Everyone knows the schedule – Most brides have a lot planned on your wedding day. A realistic timetable of when things should happen will make things run smoother. If you run late, the first thing to go is your photo session time
- Calm down and Relax – The more you are relaxed, the better you will look. The photographer can get the shot quickly and not spend time to make you look natural while you grind your teeth!
- Scout the Location – Visit the locations of the places that you’ll be shooting before the big day. Even better, do an engagement shoot with the photographer there!
- Inform all parties – Let people know what photography you are planning. Who needs to be at each venue? Do you need permission from grounds, parks, hotel foyers? Getting permission on the day wastes time and increases stress. Have 1 or 2 people assigned the task of having the right people rounded up at the right time and place.
